Volunteer Today
Our volunteers play a vital role in protecting and restoring the River Dee, and we always have activities taking place across the catchment. Throughout the year there are plenty of ways to get involved, from on-river and tributary litter picks to tree planting, habitat restoration days, SmartRivers invertebrate ID sessions, citizen science training and more.
All volunteer opportunities are managed through Team Kinetics, where you can see what events are coming up and book your place. Sign up or log in using the button below to view availability and register for upcoming events. If you’re under 18, please ask a parent or guardian to contact us on your behalf.
What our dee Trust Volunteers Get Up To
Volunteer Voices
”As a student, volunteering with The Dee Trust has brought the concepts I’ve been studying to life. Through hands‑on work in habitat restoration, pollution monitoring, and litter picking, I’ve gained practical experience and a much deeper understanding of the River Dee and its ecosystems.
Volunteering with The Dee Trust has reshaped how I view the enormous challenges facing UK rivers. Seeing first‑hand how small but consistent actions make a difference, watching projects gather momentum, and meeting like‑minded people has made me feel far more hopeful about the future.
I really enjoy the litter‑picking sessions. Returning to sites we’ve visited before and seeing the visible impact of our work is incredibly rewarding. The sessions are only two hours long, which makes it easy to attend regularly and they always end with a cup of tea and a biscuit!
It’s great that The Dee Trust Team keep us updated with their progress on social media and through regular events. Its motivating to know the citizen‑science data I collect and the invertebrate identification sessions I take part in directly contribute to important work across the catchment.”
