We’ve wrapped up another successful tree planting season here at the Welsh Dee Trust and what a way to kick off 2025!
Between January and March, we spent 11 days out planting across 7 sites in the Dee catchment. With the incredible support of 30 dedicated volunteers, we planted over 5,000 native trees. All trees were generously donated by the Woodland Trust (Coed Cadw), who ensure they are responsibly/locally sourced and grown in UK nurseries.
These trees will help improve water quality, reduce pollution, stabilize riverbanks, and boost biodiversity along the River Dee. Tree planting is a vital part of our mission to restore healthy river systems and this season’s work has already made a great start towards our 2025 goals.
In 2024, we restored 14.94 km of riparian habitat, and thanks to everyone who joined us this year, we’re well on our way to achieving even more in 2025.
